Expanding

When the idea to expand production in Skrīveri emerged, many professional and long-term candy production specialists (including production managers, candy wrappers, and fudge makers) were unemployed in Skrīveri at that point in time.Due to the specific nature of this profession and the fact that the authentic Gotiņa recipe requires manual work and particular components, such professionals are the greatest value of the company!

Once the owners of SIA “Dimdiņi” – Iveta and Normunds Audziši –, who already owned the production unit of cream fudge Gotiņa in Lizums, became aware of the bitter fact that all those professionals had lost their jobs, they decided to expand their business and to set up a production unit in Skrīveri, providing employment to those highly professional people and retaining the production tradition and expertise in making the famous cream fudge Gotiņa.

In 2006, after the renovation of the former dairy plant and cheese factory buildings, another production unit was opened in the centre of Skrīveri (82 Daugavas Street).The brand Skrīveru Gotiņa was created in 2006.

As a result, the tradition of Gotiņa production was preserved in Skrīveri and people could continue working the way they had been doing for years and had the best experience in.

Skrīveri and Lizums

Skrīveri and Lizums were among the first locations where the tradition of Gotiņa production was started in Latvia and also today the traditional sweets Skrīveru Gotiņa are produced there.

Historically, the authentic cream fudge Gotiņa is cooked by using fresh milk, sugar, glucose or starch syrup, butter, and vanillin.

This recipe is used in the production of the traditional sweets Skrīveru Gotiņa also nowadays by the company.

We are proud

At present Skrīveri is a place which can be proud not only of the tradition that was preserved, i.e., the production of Skrīveru Gotiņa, but also the fact that the company “Skrīveru saldumi” is on the path of constant development and produces a wide variety of high-quality sweets from chocolate, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, candied fruit, and other valuable products.

New products are launched every year, thus, delighting and surprising our customers with high-quality and newly-created, innovative ideas and flavours! Most of our products are handmade, thus, boosting their uniqueness and this way it is possible to do things that cannot be done if machinery is used.

The sweets workshop entitled The Emotions Factory was opened at the company “Skrīveru saldumi” already in 2008. Tours for tourists and schoolchildren are hosted there to share the story of Gotiņa production history both in Latvia and Skrīveri.

The activities offered to workshop visitors include the wrapping of cream fudge Gotiņa the same way as it is done by candy wrappers on a day-to-day basis, as well as making of marzipan figures, learning more about the latest products and tasting them.

Currently the company “Skrīveru saldumi” provides employment to approximately 100 people.
